Meeting Congresswoman Kim Schrier’s Team!

On November 26th, I met with Amy Zhou, the Senior Legislative Assistant to Congresswoman Kim Schrier! Congresswoman Schrier is the U.S. representative from Washington’s 8th congressional district and a pediatrician. Many of her policies are focused on making healthcare more equitable and accessible to all.

In this meeting, we talked about CanSER’s National Outreach Campaign to create a centralized hub for the emotional support of cancer patients and the importance of connecting with one’s legislators to enact change. We also discussed our campaign’s current progress, other legislators we’ve connected with to, and our ultimate goal of reaching President Biden and the Cancer Moonshot Team.

This meeting was incredibly insightful for me, as Ms. Zhou provided great advice on running an outreach campaign of this scale and what the next steps could be. This meeting reaffirmed my belief in CanSER’s potential to bring meaningful change and strengthened my resolve to advocate for patients who often feel unheard.

Meeting with Congresswoman Schrier’s team marks a milestone in this outreach campaign. We are one step closer to reaching the Cancer Moonshot team, and making CanSER’s national organization a reality.

Amy, it was amazing to meet you and hear your thoughts on CanSER, and I hope to stay in touch!
