Meeting Estela Mata of Looms for Lupus!

On February 28th, I met with Estela Mata, President of Looms for Lupus, a non-profit based in California working to eliminate lupus and overlapping conditions related health disparities among racial and ethnic minority populations. A main goal of their work is providing and advocating for mental health services of not only patients, but caregivers! We not only talked about the underrated importance of mental health services in a patient’s recovery, but how a goal of this magnitude requires collaboration and collective passion between existing mental health service organizations. In order to address the true issues plaguing patients, bringing our unique services and outlooks together will create a variety of services that can support any patient’s need, ultimately supporting as many patients as possible.

Estela— it was amazing to speak with you and hear your insights on the mental health/emotional support advocacy space. I can’t wait to continue working with you, and I can’t wait to see what amazing things we do together! Stay tuned for some exciting projects… 🙂

If you, too, believe that we need a familiar and trustworthy national system for the emotional support of cancer patients/survivors, endorse today!
